Wiccans - Phase IV

Country: Austin, United States

Genre: Punk, Hardcore Punk
Label: UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY (US) + DRUNKEN SAILOR (EU)

Phase IV.. Wiccan's 5th release. Their last release was in 2017, so seeing this come out was a straight home run hitter. 11 tracks, unfiltered songs. Breaking the hardcore rules, and still show casing that some of the best US hardcore comes out of Texas. I dare you to challenge me on that.

Catch them in your city soon.. They'll be hitting the road hard. (I assume)

Schedule 1 - Crucible

Country: Vancouver, British Columbia
Genre: Post Punk, Punk
Label: Self Release/ Mendeku Diskak (UK)

Vancouver always has some great post punk, is it the weather? No. It's these talented people all over Vancouver.
Schedule 1 is a top tier post punk band out of Vancouver, these guys put a-lot of energy into this LP and you can hear it. Personally every song is super catchy, it's drives from start to finish. The guitar and bass lines are incredible, strong and firm drums right behind it, and great vocals. Perfect vocal range for everything song.

I heard these guys are working on another LP, and without a doubt. It'll be good.

HIGHLY recommend to listen thru and thru this LP.
Grab an LP, it's on their bandcamp linked above.

Personal Damage - Violent Ritual

Country: Los Angeles, California
Genre: Punk
Label: Sorry State Records

BANDCAMP

Okay, I wasn't born in 80s BUT I know a god damn thing or two about 80s band and Personal Damage.. Is truly a rebirth of punk in the 80s in this day in age, with sounds similar to the stains. Everyone in Los Angeles knows how much this band rules, group vocal's, well alined guitar and bass riffs, solid perfect drumming, and the lyrics. It's unapologetic. True punk sounds. They're a personal favorite, and without a doubt. They'll become your personal favorite too, just take a listen.

This is punk done right.

PROTOCÜLTURA - Mutantes Maníacos

Country: Los Angeles, California
Genre: Synth Punk, Synth
Label: Under The Gun Records

BANDCAMP

Protocultüra a perfect example of well executed synth punk. They just released this new 7" thru Under The Gun Records, which is also a great label with awesome releases. I highly suggest getting this 7". It's all so catchy, plus Sheila's voice really captures you when listening and flows so well with the drums, and synth's.

They're also amazing live, i got the chance to book their record release November 2nd at 5star bar in Downtown Los Angeles. For a Sunday, the room was packed! Over 100 people filled the room to see Protocultüra which if you don't follow the band, they were based in Los Angeles but Sheila moved to Denmark and now you only get to catch a Cultüra gig if she's around. I find it exciting when a band doesn't play that often, or even at all. Special.

Anyways, this 7" speaks for itself. 4 solid tracks, catchy, perfect, and PUNK.

Blue Zero - Confusion EP (2025)

Country: Oakland, California
Genre: Indie, Post Punk, Shoegaze
Label: Self Released

BANDCAMP

If you know the Oakland music scene, you know it’s one of the best in the world—and Blue Zero is proof. Born from the mastermind genius of Chris Natividad (Marbled Eye, Public Interest, Aluminum), the project unleashes a debut EP, Confusion, that crashes in like a shoegaze-drenched, post-punk noise wall. Think Sonic Youth colliding with My Bloody Valentine, wrapped in a heavy alt-rock haze of blown-out chorus, distortion, and pure atmospheric grit. A must Listen!

Liiek - Living in a Fiction (2025)

Country:  Berlin, DE
Genre: Post-Punk, Punk
Label: adagio830

BANDCAMP

Over the last 10 years Berlin Post-Post punk has been a staple in the sound. Raw, Bleak, and its signature Monotone Vocals. Bands like Diät and Pigeon would redefine what Berlin post-punk could feel like, A Punk Spirit with Post Punk Precision!

Liiek represents the continuation of a narrative that Diät and Pigeon helped write. Living In in A Fiction is their third full lenght LP. Straight to the point! Razor sharp guitars, mean, intense crafted bass lines and abrasive lyrics! Truly a sound of their of own! Released on the legendary Adagio 830 also released on Tapes by Turbo Disco.

La Pregunta - S/T 2022

Country:  United States, California
Genre: Synth Punk
Label: Fall Down Laughing

BUY THE WAX

This is one of those bands you'll hear about 20 years from now, story's of their shows, who they were,  what they wore, what they created. Truly a master piece of a band, for those who are fans of synth punk.

I suggest you pulled out your credit card or debit card because if you haven't hear this band, you'll want to own one their records.. I could write a whole essay on the band and the people in the band but the music speaks for itself. IYKYK

Los Angeles Synth Punk

Home Front - Watch It Die

Country: Edmonton, Alberta
Genre: Punk, Oi, Synth
Label: La Vida Es Un Mus

BUY IT NOW!

Okay, Home Front fucking rules. From incredible live show's, with such energy EVERY show. It really drags you in and makes you feel apart of the entire show. This album personally has that nostalgic feeling you would have got listening to new order, blitz or even the first listening to joy division. Not to say i'm comparing their sound but that feeling it gave you when you first listened those bands.

Everything in this record rules.. Lyrics, Instrumentation, the Synth sounds,  Guitar and Bass Tones.
Also.. Everyone in this band fucking rules, all great people. Which automatically makes them fifty times better.

Hot Load - Fate Unknown LP

Coutry - United States, California
Genre - Hardcore Punk, Rock N Roll
Label - Going Underground Records

Alright.. It's been years since I last blogged on here and well A LOT has happen in the past 5-7 years.

From playing in tons bands, touring all over the fucking world, partying like a man mad, getting sober.
I had stepped away from blogging or even searching for new music but it feels like its a good time to return to blogging.

Bringing back the excitement i use to feel on finding new bands and wanting to share it with anyone has the same taste, interest, and just a fucking nerd about punk.

I am back, with this show casing of my band HOT LOAD.

We released this LP Oct 31 thru Going Underground Records.

After touring Japan in 2023, all of us inspired to write. We came to Los Angeles with a fire under our asses, hungry to playing.. "Riff out" as they say. We had barely had 2 new songs down in japan and we tried to play one at our opening gig and lets just say... it wasn't a great idea. Writing started taking a while as we kept playing live shows and would always halt us from getting time to just sit there and go over ideas. Once closer to our recording day, we all hit it hard. Polished up 11 brutal tracks, some metal nerd did a review on it and said we should go more in metal direction.. I found that funny knowing we're thru and thru a hardcore punk band with rock n roll, and love for Japanese Hardcore.

Anyways, I am back.
